Congrats to all the wrestlers from High Altitude who wrestled at the Iowa High School State Tournament.
State Medalists: 2nd: Travis Taylor (119 1A - Prairie Valley-Gowrie) 2nd: Cody Swim (119 3A - Indianola) 8th: James Tatman III (103 1A - Graettinger-Terril)
Travis Taylor is a senior and finished with one amazing career. He never got to wrestle in State as a freshman as he blew out his knee before sectionals. As a sophomore he finished 2nd, as a junior he was the State Champion and this year he was a State Runner Up. Not too many people can ever say they were in the finals every single time they went to the state tournament! He finished his career with an amazing record of 148-5!!!
Cody Swim is a sophomore and has already finished 3rd as a freshman and 2nd this year. Cody needs to continue to let his body grow and come back next year for revenge! There is nothing more motivating then the pain of a loss!
James Tatman III is a junior and in his first trip to state finished with a medal (8th place). He will continue to improve and I look for him to be on top next year!
Shay Taylor is a freshman and lost both matches. He will only continue to improve and will do what it takes to medal next year!!!
Ricky Waters is a senior and was 1 point from a state medal! He had a great year and did what a lot of people didn't think he could do!!! I am very proud of what Ricky did this year!
Spencer BeLieu a sophomore and was one round from placing. He has a ton of talent and will be back next year for a medal!
All these wrestlers and others need to step back, take a few weeks off and then regroup and set new goals for next year. Once the goals are set, make a plan, keep to the plan and work your tail off for the GOLD! Everyone wants to be good, but very few make the COMMITMENT! If you want a STATE MEDAL you have to PAY THE PRICE!
"There will come a time when WINTER will ask what you were doing all SUMMER!!"
I am proud of all of you,
